Cheylesmore
over 5 years agoThe birds at Quinton park are a treat, especially in Spring, with lots of little ones walking around. The War Memorial park is just 10 mins walk from where I live and we enjoy our family walks on Sundays. There are many shops in the area for local shopping. The fb group 'Love Cheylesmore' keeps us updated on everything that's happening locally. The Indian ladies group 'Sahyadri' https://www.sahyadri.co.uk/ organises cultural and community events in Coventry and it has provided extra support to families stuck at home during the pandemic through online events.

by KC, over 5 years agoAllesley park is just 5 minutes walk from my house and it's been a real life saver over the years that I've lived here. The local people are kind, polite and community minded. by Cat, over 5 years agoThe green spaces make Coundon a place to chose to live. Coundon Wedge, Coundon Hall Park, Lake View and Allesley Park. Places to breathe away from the noise and dirt of the ever increasing volume of road traffic. Judging by the high footfall in all of them I'm not alone in appreciating these places. Thanks to the Coventry Park Rangers for taking care of the green spaces of Coventry so we can access and enjoy them.

Here are some neighbours joining together to help at Stoke Heath Community Centre for the Emergency Food Provision, the Stoke Heath Grub Hub have received grants to supply the vulnerable adults and famillies within the area. There are others around Coventry doing similiar good work and all have welcomed the Lord Mayor Cllr Ann Lucas into their venue to reveal to her first hand, what hard work is being accomplished. We have been very grateful to all the volunteers you have approached us, to give a helping hand. This photo was taken at Stoke Heath Community Centre on Friday 8th... Continue reading

The other positive neighbouring items that have impressed me during the lockdown are: NHS clapping, -is missed as it was shouting outdoors. The rainbows were a great idea. Neighbours who dont usually talk to one another are, greeting and making enquiries after their well being. It becomes clear which friends are important to you as you miss them the most. Staying Safe and Well becomes high on your list.

by JOHNNY, over 5 years agoHaving lived in the street for 50 years you get to know the other people very well that have been here that long as well. There is a very small community in the street that really care about the street and have ideas to create an even better atmosphere. We talk to each other as to how we can watch out for one another especially the elderly.Having lived in the street for 50 years you get to know the other people very well that have been here that long as well. by Grumpy, over 5 years agoI love the area because it’s convenient to city centre and transport hubs. It’s good to have local shops and services. there are lots of green spaces around and love the trees along the roads. People are generally friendly.
However, it used to be better / cleaner.I don’t love the area because every blooming dog walker (there are many many) thinks the green outside our house is a public lavatory for their dog/s. Every time i look out there is a dog walker loitering and encouraging their dog to do their business there - Disgusting & public health issue.

also don’t like it as increasingly it’s HMOs and drivers who think they have the right to block other peoples access to their drives to pickup/drop off kids (no school anywhere near here), delivery drivers to make deliveries to other people in the neighbourhood despite there being valid places to park or just loiter for no reason.

by Felicity, over 5 years agoWhilst I wouldn't go so far as to say I 'love' Coundon, living so close to areas where one can walk in fields, see horses graze and dip your toes in a stream has helped me cope with lockdown, both 1.0 and 2.0. I am incredibly grateful to those who maintain the paths and rights of way through this area so we can all enjoy a little eco-therapy.Whilst I wouldn't go so far as to say I 'love' Coundon, living so close to areas where one can walk in fields, see horses graze and dip your toes in a stream has helped me cope with lockdown, both 1.0 and 2.0.
