One Coventry Plan 2022-2030
The One Coventry Plan provides our vision until 2030. It outlines how we will work together with our partners and communities across the city to achieve our priorities.
The plan is more focused on the needs and aspirations of our communities than ever before. We have listened to, and reflected on, what people have been telling us and considered the key issues facing the city.

We’d also like to invite you to attend a Strategy Carousel Event on Thursday 07 July 2022, 12 – 2pm, Committee room 3 in the Council House. This is a great opportunity to talk to council officers and find out more about key strategies that are being developed, alongside the One Coventry Plan. These strategies will influence the future of the city in the coming months and years. There is no need to book just come along – we would love to see to see you there.

Do you want to become a Vaccination Champion?
Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions we have. Measles, for example has been reduced by up to 99.9% since its vaccine was introduced. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that at least 95% of children are immunised against vaccine prevent able diseases such as measles, mumps, and diphtheria. If people stop having vaccinations, these serious infectious diseases may start to spread again.
Approximately 22% of children aged 5 in 2019/20 did not receive their pre-school booster, decreasing to approximately 18% in 2020/21.Coventry needs to urgently increase the uptake of all childhood vaccines, with a particular emphasis on pre-school boosters. Booster vaccines are very important as they increase protection against the relevant disease and help to avoid outbreaks of vaccine preventable disease.
Asa respected community leader we would like to request your support in protecting our children and the wider community by raising awareness of the importance of vaccinations and how to access them. Residents are more likely to trust and listen to their community leaders and we value the contribution you can make to tackle this important subject.
We urge all communities, schools, nurseries, faith groups to register a representative to attend a Vaccination Champion training so that there is a key person that can champion this message within their organisation or community setting. Upcoming training sessions:
- Wednesday 27th July 2022 2:00-3:30pm [afternoon virtual session delivered via Teams]
- Thursday 28th July 2022 6:00-7:30pm [evening virtual session delivered via Teams]
- Tuesday 2nd August 2022 10:30 am– 12:30pm, delivered at the council house

Have your say on a new joint approach to suicide prevention across Coventry and Warwickshire
Every life lost to a suicide is a life lost too soon.
Coventry and Warwickshire’s Suicide Prevention Partnership is inviting people to take part in a survey to help shape a refreshed approach to suicide prevention across the region.
On behalf of the Coventry and Warwickshire Suicide Prevention Partnership, Warwickshire County Council and Coventry City Council are seeking people’s views on a new joint strategy that will provide information, services and support across the area to help prevent suicide. The new strategy will outline how the Councils will work with other local organisations and services to achieve the vision that no one in Coventry and Warwickshire should ever feel that suicide is their only option.

People are being asked to share their thoughts on the strategy and how it applies to them, whether through their work or personal life experience. The three key areas the survey is seeking feedback on are:
- the ambitions and priorities identified for the strategy
- the mental health and wellbeing needs of individuals and their communities
- how and where people look for support if they need it
The survey is anonymous, confidential and open to everyone. You can provide your feedback by completing the survey here.

Go Foleshill Community Mile
Positive Youth Foundation officially launched the Go Foleshill Community Mile at Edgwick Park on Saturday 14^th May. The 1 mile route around Edgwick Park will now be happening every Saturday at 11am. Everyone is welcome and you can just turn up. You can read the story of their first event here and the idea behind this great initiative;

Canley Prom Bank
Canley Prom Bank collect donations of Prom Dresses, Suits and accessories to help people less fortunate have a lovely experience. Not everyone can afford these items so find themselves missing out on these once in a lifetime events.
Their aim is to ask for a small deposit on the items which will be refundable once the item is brought back in the condition it was loaned out in. If you have anything you would like to donate they would be very grateful.

Men Talk
These sessions are open for people to turn up on the day, with no prior sporting experience! The group uses sports and physical activities as a way of engaging people in a group environment while delivering positive mental health promotion messages.
All activities are suggested / decided by participants and regularly offer badminton, football, table tennis, basketball, indoor archery, bowls as well as various other indoor sports.
Come along to Moat House Leisure Centre (CV2 1 EA) Every Thursday, 12pm - 2pm.
Would you like to know more about RAF Museum Cosford?
We’re based in Shropshire next door to an RAF base, we’re a museum dedicated to the history of aviation through the story of the Royal Air Force and this year we are 50 years old.
We have some great thing to see, we have the oldest surviving Supermarine Spitfire on display as well as all 3 V bombers, the only place you can see all three together the Victor, Valiant and the Vulcan.
This summer we are organising a tour of one of our Spitfires and we will be coming to Coventry in the middle of June. I would like to work with some groups and organisations before this to get people engaged and excited. I would like to come and visit some groups and I could bring some activities with me. I have some objects to handle and talk about and could bring some other activities along too, and this would be free!
The museum has their strategy 2030 where this is our ambition,
Inspiring everyone with the RAF story – the people who shape it, and its place in our lives.

Right Tree Right Place
West Midlands Combined Authority are launching a Right Tree Right Place campaign to provide support on choosing and planting trees.
We’re launching the campaign with three tree giveaways, to give free trees to the local community to plant in their gardens or community spaces. Come along on Thursday 24 February – Allesley Park, Coventry, CV5 9AD. 1:00pm-3:30pm. The rangers are hosting build a bird box with children event, and we will be handing out the trees.
We have 400 trees to give away this half term week, and we look forward to seeing you there.

Royal British Legion Commemoration

To mark Coventry City of Culture and the Legion’s commemoration of 100 years of Remembrance, the Legion and WCS Group are creating a webpage to remember 100 years of service and sacrifice of the people of Coventry.
The purpose of the webpage is to collate stories from the residents of Coventry of their family or friends that have served since the First World War. The Legion is supplying some initial stories but would like individuals to add their own stories. Find out more here
