By delivering this priority we will create a city with a strong and resilient economy, where inclusive growth is promoted and delivered, businesses are enabled to innovate and grow and new local jobs are created.  

We have amended the One Coventry Plan following your feedback on this priority by:

  • Expanding our commitment to ensure pathways to employment for young people to include adults with mental ill health, disabilities, carers and new migrants to the city, young people from diverse backgrounds

  • Being clear that we will, where possible, prioritise jobs and skills for local people and utilise local small businesses and source local materials when delivering projects

  • Ensuring our transport infrastructure not only attracts investment but is also sustainable and inclusive with an improved public transport network

  • Including a commitment to ensure our city centre remains clean and tidy and offers a diverse range of experiences for residents and visitors.

  • Being clear that we will utilise our tender criteria to capture social value commitments that align to our Social Value & Sustainability Policy

    Esmie Stewart, the owner of “Leave it to Esmie” has purchased a food truck and diversified her business for upcoming summer events.

    Esmie has achieved this by utilising the Duplex Investment Fund, managed by CWRT and funded by Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council. Duplex offers a low interest loan when paired with its grant of up to 40%.

    Planning permission has been granted for a remarkable transformation of the city’s former IKEA building into a vibrant cultural hub.

    Now known as the City Centre Cultural Gateway (CCCG), the building will be repurposed to provide a new home for nationally recognised collections and include a space for new research facilities.

    Coombe Abbey Park has passed the Visit England Quality Assessment this year, with a continued improvement in the overall score to 89%, up from 88% in 2022 and 83% in 2021.

    All categories continue to score 80% and above, which is part of the scoring required to be nominated for a Gold accolade, along with at least 90% overall.
