Coventry Open Christmas - Do you need a hot meal or safe place to go at Christmas?

The following service open to everybody:

  • Emergency overnight sleeping for the homeless or anyone in need
  • Free hot meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner times
  • Emergency food parcels
  • A warm, non judgemental place for anyone who needs a safe place to go
  • Entertainment each night, including bingo during the day, prizes, and much more

Venue: Queens Road Baptist Church, Coventry CV1 3EG

Open: 24 hours a day, from December 24th 2:00pm through to December 29th closing at 10:00am

CRASAC have launched a new therapeutic services offer

New service and some changes to the eligibility criteria:

  • The waiting list for Therapeutic services for people aged 13+ has now re-opened.
  • All referrals will be contacted for an assessment within a month.
  • People wanting to access these services will be invited to a 'Welcome to CRASAC session', where the services on offer will be explained.
  • Clients will then be able to access a range of support including the Thrive Project (an 8 week closed group) and 1-1 counselling.
  • We will be expanding this offer throughout 2025 (subject to funding).

Points to note:

  • There remains a long wait for 1-1 counselling.
  • Due to demands/lack of capacity, referrals from outside of Coventry will not be accepted (you will be able to enter a postcode into the system which will let you know if you are within our area).
  • The ISVA service remains open and unaffected by these changes.
  • Referrals for the under 13's counselling remains open and unaffected by these changes

As the days get shorter and colder, make sure you take a moment to learn how you can become winter ready.

You can find information and advice, help and support on keeping warm and well in winter. You can also visit one of our places providing a warm welcome around the city.




Cost of Living

If you're struggling with the cost of food, bills and essentials, you could be eligible for a Household Support grant to help you. The fund supports households in the most need, particularly those who might not qualify for other types of support in the past, including cost of living payments.

Visit the Household Support Fund webpage on the Coventry City Council website to find out exactly what support is on offer.


All applications for support need to be made online. Alternatively, support completing an application can be provided by calling 08085 834333; or visiting the customer service centre at Broadgate House.


Act on Energy

'Act on Energy' provides free impartial advice on energy efficiency and grants and projects available in your area to help keep you warm this winter.

P3 drop-in sessions

P3 can provide help with: Housing/tenancy issues, independent living skills, money management/benefit advice, health and well-being or general advice and support.

    Remember to bring your ID to the voting polls

    The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photographic ID when voting at a polling station. So to vote in a polling station at this year’s local elections in Coventry you will need to show an accepted form of photographic ID.

    Accepted forms of ID include:

    • a UK, European Economic Area (EEA) or Commonwealth passport
    • a UK, EEA or Commonwealth drivers’ licence
    • Identity cards with a PASS Mark
    • A biometric immigration document
    • A blue badge
    • An Older Person’s Bus Pass
    • A Disabled Person’s bus pass

    Severn Trent have launched their Green Recovery Programme. Green Recovery is a range of exciting projects that will run up to March 2025, updating their water networks.

    One of the things they’re doing right now across Coventry is upgrading customers’ old water supply pipes – at no cost.

    Your supply pipe links your home to Severn Trent's water mains. Older pipes have a higher risk of leaks. Your pipes might even be made from lead – especially if your home was built before 1970. Or you might find you're sharing a supply with neighbours.

    Targeting help to increase family income

    The Council is writing to a number of Coventry residents who may be eligible for Pension Credit.


    It’s part of a wider effort to help people who are facing the most difficulties with the increasing costs of living to look at how they can urgently be supported.

    The Council will also be writing to households and families who are struggling with rent arears, debt issues, or who could be eligible for receipt of free school meals or support with council tax payments. The hope is to help individuals and families to increase their income.
