January's Support Offers

Support from Severn Trent

Severn Trent have launched their Green Recovery Programme. Green Recovery is a range of exciting projects that will run up to March 2025, updating their water networks.

One of the things they’re doing right now across Coventry is upgrading customers’ old water supply pipes – at no cost.

Your supply pipe links your home to Severn Trent's water mains. Older pipes have a higher risk of leaks. Your pipes might even be made from lead – especially if your home was built before 1970. Or you might find you're sharing a supply with neighbours.

As part of this project, they’re offering to replace these older pipes at no cost to you. Normally this might cost between £1,000 and £3,000, as the supply pipe is your responsibility. They will be upgrading existing water supply pipes in over 25,000 homes in Coventry. We could replace your old supply pipe with a new, industry-standard 25mm plastic pipe.

Winter Youth Club (PYF)

Positive Youth Foundation have launched their Winter Youth Club which provides a safe space for young people to keep warm, have hot meals, access a wide range of services for free and gives an opportunity for young people to feel part of the community.

The club includes access to a private tutor,  IT and activities to help reduce financial pressures on families especially those within the local areas. This is available 3x week (5:30-7:30pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) and is open to all aged 11-18yrs.

The clubs are open from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm, but food parcels will be available for young people to pick up throughout the winter, including outside PYF's opening hours.

NCSC launches free cyber support for small charities in ‘high risk’ sectors

The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has launched a programme offering free cyber security assistance to small charities and legal aid firms working in high-risk sectors. Named the Funded Cyber Essential Programme, it involves around 20 hours of remote support at no cost from an assessor of the Cyber Essentials certification framework for qualifying organisations. This will provide practical support for organisations to get baseline security controls on firewalls, secure settings, access controls, malware and software updates in place. This will be reinforced by a hands-on verification. The programme will apply to small charities or legal aid services that process personal data, such as those in safeguarding for domestic abuse survivors.”

To qualify for this scheme, the organisation must either be:

  • a micro or small business (1 to 49 employees) that offers legal-aid services

  • a micro or small charity that processes personal data, as defined under GDPR
