July's Get Involved Updates
The Coventry Holidays and Food (HAF) Programme
The Holiday Activities and Food programme is back this summer, featuring over 150 activities for children and young people between July and September.
Places are completely free to children who receive free school meals.
To book sessions, parents/carers will need the child’s HAF code which is highlighted in the letter sent to their home.
Support is available for bookings through the Customer Service contact centre, family hubs, schools, and libraries located around the city centre.

Could you Foster With Coventry?
Coventry City Council are recruiting people, like you to become foster cares, so children can remain living in Coventry, near to their families, schools and friends.
Foster carers provide a stable home for children who are unable to live with their birth family.
You will need to have a spare room, some experience of working with or parenting children and the time and motivation to make a difference to children’s lives. In return you will receive full initial and ongoing training, 24/7 support from our friendly team and an excellent financial package.
Fostering is one of the most rewarding, challenging and amazing jobs you will do. If you think this is something you could do then call us today on 024 76 832828, apply online, or come along to one of event many information events which can be found online
We look forward to hearing from you and getting you started on your fostering journey with us.
Children's Saturday Storytelling - Herbert Art Gallery
Last Saturday of every month 26 August, 30 September, 28 October, 25 November, 30 December 2023, 27 January 2024 | 11.30am, 12.30pm & 2.30pm
Designed for age 3+, but all are welcome
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum exhibits a wide selection of artworks and and hosts many contemporary art exhibitions. We aim to make these spaces welcoming for all, encouraging children to engage with our exhibitions. To support this, our expert Learning Team offer a series of relaxed, monthly art stories, specially designed for a younger audience.
Each month in the gallery spaces we will be reading a 15-minute story about a different global artist. The storytelling will present a perspective on the artist’s experiences and will support children with their own interpretations of artworks.
After listening to the story, children will have the opportunity to reimagine our collections through the lens of the artist, by actively participating in discussions and drawing works on display in the style of the artist they have learned about.
Local Plan Review
Coventry City Council adopted the local Plan in 2017 and it now needs to be reviewed to ensure that it is in line with current government policy and that it reflects the Council’s own priorities.
The policies of the Local Plan set the context for determining whether planning applications are acceptable or not. Policies cover issues such as health and wellbeing, communities, climate change, housing, employment and much more.
The planning policy team is consulting until 12th September 2023. The consultation document is called Issues and Options and it is accompanied by an Equality & Health Impact Assessment and a Sustainability Appraisal which are also being consulted on. We have also produced a non technical summary.
We are keen to ensure that the consultation reflects a wide range of communities and needs, and we are especially looking for the views of those who would not normally respond to a consultation. If you have any views on who, or which community groups you think we should speak to, please let the team know at planningpolicy@coventry.gov.uk
