Sahil Project Brings Movement and Connection to Foleshill Residents
Sahil recognising the positive impact being physically active could bring to their clients, they successfully applied to the Sport England Movement Fund, which has enabled them to introduce a regular schedule of seated exercise classes throughout the week in several venues. They found the application process straightforward and were delighted when they found out they had secured the funds.
They recognised the challenges some people face in terms of their physical and mental health. The new local exercise classes provide people with a reason to leave their homes, go outside, and socialise.
Dr Koll said “At Sahil, we see every day how culture, language and isolation can prevent people from accessing even the most basic forms of support. These sessions are not just about movement they are about belonging. They offer a safe space where people from different communities come together, feel heard, and rediscover the confidence to live well. That’s the real impact of this project.”
Sahil is fully inclusive, welcoming everyone to their sessions irrespective of their faith or cultural background. Most clients are 55 plus and enjoy a range of different activities.
Chair based exercise sessions take place :11 – 12 Tuesdays Weekly at Paul Community Centre, Foleshill
10:30 to 11:30 Thursdays weekly at The Hindu Temple Society, Stoney Stanton Road

Severn Trent have launched their Green Recovery Programme. Green Recovery is a range of exciting projects that will run up to March 2025, updating their water networks.
One of the things they’re doing right now across Coventry is upgrading customers’ old water supply pipes – at no cost.
Your supply pipe links your home to Severn Trent's water mains. Older pipes have a higher risk of leaks. Your pipes might even be made from lead – especially if your home was built before 1970. Or you might find you're sharing a supply with neighbours.
