FAQs: below are frequently asked questions about the One Coventry Plan. These will be added to throughout the engagement period as other questions are asked.
Why does the Council have a plan?
The Council has a plan in order to set out its vision and objectives and how it will meet the needs of the city and its people. It helps everyone understand their role in making a difference to the city. It builds on the work that we have done in recent years as an organisation and with partners, including our joint response to the pandemic. By working together, we will be able to make the biggest possible change.
What does it mean for me?
A Council Plan creates a way for the Council to connect with the local community by providing a sense of direction and by setting out its priorities. This can help to understand what the Council is aiming to achieve, the actions it will take and the role you can play to make a difference.
How much is it going to cost to deliver this plan?
The refreshed One Coventry Plan will be delivered within the Council’s current budget.
Is Council Tax going to go up because of this plan?
No, Council Tax will not specifically be raised because of this plan.
What practical difference will it make to life in the city?
The One Coventry Plan sets out our priorities for the city and how these can be collectively achieved. This will give us the best chance to make a positive difference to the lives of the people who live, work or study here. Successfully achieving these would mean so many positive changes in the city. Examples of these changes could include more jobs, better air quality or better opportunities for young people.
How does this relate to the Local Plan?
The One Coventry Plan provides Coventry City Council’s vision and objectives until 2030. The Local Plan is different. Local Plans set out the vision for future development in the area and are used to help to decide on planning applications and other planning related decisions. They are a local guide to what can be built where, shaping infrastructure investments and determining the future pattern of development in each local area.

Is there any point in people having their say?
Yes, it is really important to us that we hear from as many people who live, work and/or study in the city as possible. We want you to play an active part in shaping the delivery of our priorities. Over the coming weeks we’ll be engaging with as many people, groups and organisations to understand your thoughts and ideas on how we can achieve our priorities, how we can work together and what success would look like.
