Join the Community Resilience Team as a Community Co‑ordinator

We are recruiting a full‑time, permanent Community Co‑ordinator — a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about strengthening communities and helping local people bring great ideas to life.

About the Team

The Community Resilience Team partners with community groups, voluntary organisations, and Council services to deliver meaningful, people‑centred support across the city. Their work includes:

  • Helping to develop community libraries
  • Supporting food hubs and social supermarkets
  • Growing networks of community volunteers, local connectors, and partner organisations
  • Empowering residents to set up new self‑help groups or expand community activity

No two days in the team are ever the same — the work is varied, hands‑on, and deeply rooted in Coventry’s communities.

About the Role

As a Community Co‑ordinator, you will work directly with individuals and organisations across the voluntary and community sector. Your role will involve:

  • Helping residents establish new community groups
  • Supporting community centres and existing initiatives to grow and thrive
  • Getting involved in community‑led projects that strengthen local resilience
This is a highly people‑focused, problem‑solving, and connection‑building role — perfect for someone who loves bringing communities together.

Who We’re Looking For

Coventry City Council is seeking someone who:

  • Is passionate about community development
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with residents, volunteers, and partners
  • Can take initiative, solve problems, and support others to turn ideas into reality

The Council proudly champions its One Coventry Values, including fairness, inclusion, creativity, accountability, and respect. Applicants from diverse backgrounds — including minority ethnic, LGBT+, disabled, and neurodiverse communities — are especially welcomed.

Key Dates

  • Closing date: Sunday 19 April 2026
  • Shortlisting: 21 April 2026
  • Interviews: 5–7 May 2026

Applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK, as sponsorship is not available for this role.

Legal Needs Survey for Community Organisations

We are conducting a survey to help us understand how voluntary organisations in Coventry and Birmingham help people to deal with everyday legal problems, for example with issues like benefits, housing or employment. The survey can be accessed here: Legal Needs Survey for Community Organisations(External link).

We would be grateful if someone from your organisation in a managerial role, or who otherwise has sufficient insight into organisational practices, could take the time to fill out the survey. The survey should take no more than 20 minutes. The deadline for completion is 17 April 2026.

Your responses will help us to design services and training that can help more people in Coventry and Birmingham to access their rights and get legal support.

If you would prefer to do this survey over Teams or the phone, please contact (T.Mulqueen@warwick.ac.uk(External link)) or Katherine Lloyd (katherine.lloyd@centralenglandlc.org.uk(External link)).

Please also feel free to contact Dr Tara Mulqueen or Katherine Lloyd if you have any questions or if there is anything more that you would like to discuss.
