Coventry Food Network Christmas Campaign 2024

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported this year's Coventry Food Network Christmas campaign. Local businesses and staff have collected much needed food donations which have been given to Coventry Food Network organisations.

Here's a shout out to some local organisations who have worked with the Community Resilience Team to support this year's campaign.



Capita support Feeding Coventry at Foleshill Community Centre

Elena Frangu and Capita staff was one of the first organisations to offer their help with the Coventry Food Network Christmas campaign.

They collected approximately £400 worth of food for Feeding Coventry at Foleshill Community Centre which will be used to support some of the most vulnerable families in Foleshill.

Capita said "We are proud to support the Coventry Food Network Christmas campaign and contribute to such a meaningful cause. We believe in giving back to the community and are committed to supporting charitable initiatives that make a real difference. It’s our privilege to play a part in helping those in need, especially during the festive season."



McLaren Construction support Canley Food Hub with donations this Christmas

McLaren Construction have been supporting Canley Food Hub with donations this Christmas. They collected approximately £400 worth of food an other essentials to support people in need.

Charlotte Green from McLaren Construction said "It has been an absolute pleasure to get involved in supporting Canley Food Hub. McLaren would like to also thank DP Interiors Ltd, Hartle Ltd & Midland Decorators Ltd in joining in with providing food donations for Canley Food Hub. In total we have all collected over £400 worth of food and other essential items. We all truly hope this helps families locally over the next few months".

Julie Hughes from Canley Community Centre said "On behalf of Canley Food Hub, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to McLaren Construction for their incredibly generous donation. This contribution will go a long way in supporting our mission to provide for those in need within our community in CV4 and CV5, particularly as we approach the festive season. Your kindness and support are making a meaningful difference, and we are truly grateful for your partnership in helping us make Christmas a little brighter for many of the families in Canley.

Thank you also for the surprise Hamper. We added it as an extra prize to our Christmas Raffle and the winner was thrilled!”



Staff based at One Friargate donated food to The Hope Centre Mosaic Church in Hillfields

A donation box was placed in One Friargate reception for Coventry City Council staff and other organisations based in the building to donate food items.

Approximately £650 worth off food was donated to The Hope Centre Mosaic Church in Hillfields. Staff were thrilled as this will support many vulnerable people this Christmas.




Severn Trent Staff collect donations for Henley Green Grub Hub

Once again, Severn Trent have collected for the Coventry Food Network Christmas campaign. The Community Resilience Team would like to thank Kim Clark and colleagues for their donations which has been given to Henley Green Grub Hub.

Dianne Williams from the Grub Hub said, “Severn Trent staff have always been generous and we really do appreciate their support, particularly this time of year when families need us most.”





Deeley Construction supporting Stoke Heath Community Centre

Deeley Construction has once again demonstrated its incredible support for local community organisations in Coventry. Their generous food donation to Stoke Heath Community Centre is very much appreciated. Deeley Construction staff have made a difference yet again—thank you!

Kim White, Stoke Heath Community Centre Manager, said "We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Deeley Construction for their generous food donations to Stoke Heath Community Centre as part of the Coventry Food Network Christmas campaign. This Christmas season can be particularly challenging for struggling families, and your support has made a significant difference.

We are truly overwhelmed by your kindness, and your donation will help make Christmas much brighter for those in need. Thank you Deeley Construction, for your incredible generosity—your kindness is very appreciated"

    Lenton’s Lane Baptist Church receives funding from the Recovery and Support Grant and Severn Trent!

    Lenton’s Lane Baptist Church is situated in the Northeast of the city and lies within the Longford Ward. The Community Resilience Team (CRT) initially contacted the church during the Covid19 lockdown period but were told it was closed until things returned to normal, but they would appreciate support once normality returned as they had ideas for projects they would like to run.

    Local charity Baby Godiva's growing success after successful funding opportunities and support from the team!

    Over the last 18 months the Community Resilience Team have been supporting a local charity called Baby Godiva. The charity provides free of charge, pre-loved and new nursery items and consumables to families living in poverty.

    Since the charity’s formation in 2019 it has helped 1,834 families with over 6,000 items, and the CRT has supported them in applying to a variety of funders.     Godiva Sisters membership thriving after being awarded the Community Recovery and Support Grant

    The Community Resilience team have recently helped the Godiva Sisters apply to the Community Recovery and Support Grant so they could get some support for their group following the pandemic. The Godiva Sisters were formed twenty years ago and is made up of local women from all faiths and cultures who meet to portray characters both ancient and modern. They also raise the profile of minority groups and engendering community cohesion.

    Confidence Through Photography Group is welcoming new members

    The group was set up in 2017 by Neil Catley who felt there was not much for people with mental health and anxiety issues to do at the weekend. Prior to setting up the group Neil who had agoraphobia did not leave the house for 5 years, this all changed when his mum bought him a camera which he would take to his local park and capture pictures.
