Walking, Wheeling and Cycling in Coventry
Last year, we asked about how much you move. Many people said they want to move more but can’t. Now we want to know how much of your movement is active travel – walking, wheeling or cycling – and what would help you do more of it.
Your feedback will help shape future plans for walking, wheeling, and cycling in Coventry. These plans will form part of our Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP), which supports our existing Transport Strategy and its strong focus on active travel.
What is walking, wheeling and cycling? Why do they matter?
Walking, wheeling and cycling are affordable, accessible ways to travel.
Wheeling includes using a wheelchair, scooter (kick, electric or mobility), rollator, pram or pushchair.
Almost every journey involves some walking, wheeling or cycling.
These forms of travel – often called active travel – bring many benefits:
Better access to jobs, education and opportunities
Improved health and wellbeing through physical activity
Greater independence and better focus for children
Less congestion on buses and more parking spaces for drivers
Even if you don’t walk, wheel or cycle more yourself, improving these options helps everyone.
Many people want to travel actively but face barriers. We want to understand those barriers and hear your preferences for different types of cycle routes.
If you would like to request a paper copy of the survey or need this information in another format or language then please contact us on 08085 834333 or email TransportStrategy@coventry.gov.uk
So please do get involved and have your say. We really value your opinion.
The deadline for responses is 22 March2026
