We have successfully bid for money to extend the Binley Cycleway along Allard Way to Second Avenue.
This means that there will be a new section of fully segregated cycleway from Binley Road to Second Avenue along Allard Way. A cycleway is a section of the highway dedicated for the use of people on cycles. It will be positioned between the path and the road and will be physically separated from both using kerbs. People on cycles will have priority over traffic entering and leaving side roads and at traffic light junctions the cycleway will have its own set of traffic lights to ensure safety through them.
We will also install a new cycle crossing across second Avenue at the junction with Allard Way (shown in the image below). This will be located next to the existing pedestrian crossing, meaning no extra waiting time for vehicles.
You can see the plans for the scheme in the documents section on the right hand side of this page.
